Personal credit cards

Many individuals, couples and families use a personal credit card. It can be used to make purchases, access instant cash, take advantage of the credit or to gain rewards. The following information may help you choose the right credit card

Protection on purchases

A credit card provides added protection for individuals when purchasing products or services through the internet. When spending over £100 (£100.01 or more) on goods or services then it is often recommended that you make the purchase using a personal credit card. This is because both the credit card company and the actual supplier become jointly liable for the product or service. An excellent example of when this may be useful is for the purchase of flights that may not be covered by ABTA. If the airline were to go bust then you may able to make a claim to the credit card company to get your money reimbursed.

If you regularly purchase expensive household goods, electrical equipment, travel, or any other high value item then the added protection is often deemed to be a considerable advantage.
